First Blog...... Cardiff

Contemporary and Historic TV and film locations

Being in Cardiff i would have thought that this topic would have been a good choice but even after research i still couldnt get my head around what i wanted to do. I did manage to see a film crew which was handy but they refuesed to be photographed and wouldnt tell me where they were going.
I didnt want to just photograph places that were in famous TV/film such as Doctor who and Torchwood, i wanted something a bit more creative that photograping the famous scenes, so i felt the best thing to do would be to photograph something i would use in a TV/film, something that would look the part. so when we came across an abandoned drug house it was perfect.

The side of the house, i like the darkness of the image, gives it a real creepy feeling. I have edited this image slightly changing the curves so that i could get rid of the detail in the leaves, i just wanted the dark outline of the tree with the contrast with the green gate.

From the front of the house. the house was all fenced and gated up and i wanted to show the how it was kept away from society and the people around. I have uped the contrast on this image just to highlight and really show the bars and the green paint on the house.

This is the view from the cellar to what would have been a cellar door to the garden. I like how dark the image is and how you can see how unhabitable it is, there is so much stuff everywhere, I especially like the wooden fireplace proped up in the doorway. I did edit the brightness just so that the ray of light wa smore obvious, i wanted to create a trail for the eyes to follow out of the door.

This one i loved the way the light hit the glass in the door and the way you can just about see the shadow of the door. Again just a basic edit.

This is my favourite image from the day. I havnt felt the need to edit this one, I like how dark and moody it is, especially the graffeti on the wall " i love this house". I like how powerful this image is, how ruined the house is. This would be perfect for some youth culture film or a murder series on ITV.
